The parallel Split Mandrel is used with Emery Paper, Wet & Dry etc
The remainder of the strip is wound around the mandrel.

The parallel Split Mandrel is used with Emery Paper, Wet & Dry etc. The end of a strip of appropriate grade paper is threaded into the slit. The remainder of the strip is wound around the mandrel. NB.When winding, note should be taken in which direction the mandrel will turn. If wound incorrectly the paper will unravel as the mandrel turns. If wound correctly the motion of turn against the object will keep the paper tight on the mandrel. Once the ‘outside’ turn of paper is worn, this can be removed to reveal ‘fresh’ paper.
